Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT Pharmacy), a novel initiative launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare aims to provide affordable medicines for treatment of cancer, cardio vascular and other diseases. HLL Lifecare Limited, a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is the nodal agency for implementing the same on pan India basis.

AMRIT Pharmacies are dispensing branded / branded generic Allopathic medicines, surgicals and implants mainly in tertiary care hospitals. These items are mainly needed in tertiary care hospitals and AMRIT Pharmacies are offering as a single point solution for all the medical item requirements of tertiary care hospitals. In major Institutes like AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Bhopal etc., where Ayush Block is also operational within the campus along with other allopathic blocks, AMRIT Pharmacies are dispensing Ayurvedic medicines also. AMRIT Pharmacy is employing skilled professionals of Pharmacy ground (D. Pharm, B Pharm etc.) for the day to day operations.

To provide safeguards for children against sexual abuse, the Government of India has enacted the special law Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The act defines a child as any person below the age of 18 years. Cases of Blindness in India

  As per the National Blindness and Visual Impairment survey 2007, the prevalence of blindness in the country was 1% in 2007. As per survey conducted in 2015-19, the prevalence of blindness in the country was 0.36% in 2019. The number of blind persons in India is high due to increase in ageing population and semi tropical location of the country, lack of public awareness, and economic constraints etc. The main causes of blindness in India are as under:   1) Cataract (66.2%)  2) Corneal opacity (7.4%)  3) Cataract surgical complications (7.2%)  4) Posterior segment disorders excluding DR and ARMD (5.9%)  5) Glaucoma (5.5%).  6) Others (7.8%) However, no survey has been conducted separately under National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCBVI) to determine the number of blind people particularly in the rural areas.
